Warf

The little darlings warfed all over my bed last night. It was yellow with hair. He hadn't been feeling well for a day or so. Not really eating much. When I came home last night, he wolfed down his food. I guess once he puked he felt much better.

He also managed to ruin the notebook I've been using to keep track of information I find on his disease and its treatment. Was he trying to contribute a sample?

I'm going to have a phone session with the homeopathic vet sometime tomorrow. I hope she can help.

Bears

Rufus made logs in the box last night. I'm so relieved since he'd been making pudding then hadn't made anything for a couple of days. His eye looks much better too. I hope that's a good sign. I worry that his immune system is suppressed because of the drugs he's taking. OK, he's not taking them - I'm giving them to him.

He's taking:

Prednisone (5mg) twice a day
Metronidazole (50mg/ml) 0.75ml twice a day
Ursodiol 0.25ml once a day
Chlorambucil (2mg) every third day

Support Group

Yesterday I found a great support group on Yahoo! It's so good to hear about other people's success stories and to learn from their difficulties. I learned I need to be better about getting Rufus' blood work done because things can change at any time. I've heard conflicting things about the liver situation, but it could be a side effect of one or two of the medications he is on.

I need to do some more homework and hopefully see the homeopathic vet next week.

Merry Christmas and have a safe, healthy, and happy New Year.

Goo

Poor baby has had white goo coming from his right eye all week. It was a little better today, but I think I'll still call the vet. He's also been making pudding instead of logs. It might be because of the change in food. He was eating the light hairball formula for a few days.

The homeopathic vet got back to me today. I'm going to try to take him to see her in Walpole next Wednesday. I'd rather take him there than downtown Boston. Don't want to traumatize the little fella more than is necessary. She sounded a little alarmed like she wanted to see him as soon as possible. My poor baby kitty.

Food

I need to remember to pick up Rufus' food from the vet tomorrow morning. He's been eating Briana's food for the last 2 days because I've been too lazy to make it to the vet's. He hasn't been complaining since he likes her food better than his own, but I don't want him warfing again.

I've been a bad mother. Went over Jeanne's last night and had too much to drink so I spent the night on her couch. Poor Rufus didn't have any food all night and I was late giving him his chemo. Having a sick cat is like having a sick toddler. They need constant attention and can get into trouble if you leave them unsupervised. When I got home early this morning, I discovered Rufus had tipped over the clothes rack. Hope he didn't wake the neighbors. I need to finish up here and go feed him again.

poor starving baby

My meeting downtown this morning ran really late so I didn't get to go home and feed Rufus his lunch this afternoon. By the time I got home he was starving. I gave him canned food that he had to share with Briana, but he was still hungry, so I waited about 15 minutes and gave him some dry food. He was still hungry so I gave him more canned food 15 minutes after that and that's when he decided to do a little projectile vomiting in the living room. It was really gross. He does this every time I'm late feeding him. I don't understand it. I thought that he was just eating too fast, so I tried to force him to pace himself this time. It didn't work, so now I'm back to starving him. Poor little fella.

Liver

So, Rufus' liver levels are elevated again. The vet tried changing the scheduling for his chemotherapy to see if it was just a side effect of the medication. It wasn't, but he seems to be doing much better on the new dosage. He hasn't been nauseous, he's been eating MUCH better, and he hasn't been puking. ::crosses fingers:: So we're going to keep the chemo at every third day.

The vet wanted to do an ultrasound, but I just can't afford it. I asked him about homeopathic remedies and he's going to get me the names of a few vets. I've already switched them over to distilled water for drinking and natural canned food. They LOVE it, but it's expensive. $1.09 a can and they would eat more than a can a day if I let them.
